The petition of the undersigned citizens of the United States : being a committee appointed by and acting for ... the cotton manufacturers in Providence and vicinity ... [1815?]

Petition urging passage of law prohibiting import of all cotton goods from places beyond the Cape of Good Hope and laying duty on those of coarse texture imported from other countries to give the petitioners relief. Accompanied by a circular letter dated Oct. 20, 1815, indicating that the cotton manufacturers of Providence, R.I., have appointed a committee to prepare a memorial to Congress and outlining an upcoming meeting about this subject.
