"The David Hudson family papers, 1799-1836, consists of journals, account books, agricultural diary, and recipe book. These are arranged by name of compiler, by document type, and then chronologically. David Hudson, Sr.'s journal and account book (1799-1801) describes the surveying party's trip from Litchfield, Connecticut, across Lake Erie, up the Cuyahoga River, and then overland to the site of Hudson in 1799, concluding with David Hudson's return trip to Connecticut that same year. Also included are ten of David Hudson, Jr.s journals (1820-1836), which cover aspects of farm life, printing, and the early history of Hudson; and Anner Mary Hudson's recipe book (ca. 1830)"--Typescript guide.
