Fitzhugh family papers, 1775-1901.

Letters, 1775-1803, from William Fitzhugh of Chatham, Stafford County, Va., to his nephew, Benjamin Grymes of Eagles Nest, Stafford County, Va. discuss crops, especially wheat and tobacco, slaves, the family and his health. Papers, 1781-1845, of John Spence and his wife Rosa (Fitzhugh) Spence of Dumfries, Va., consist of documents from Edinburg University where he studied medicine, including tickets for admission to classes, and correspondence. Papers, 1836-1901, of Dr. Francis C. Fitzhugh of King George County, and Francis "Frank" C. Fitzhugh, a Charlottesville merchant, include family correspondence, bills and receipts, and Dr. Fitzhugh's tickets of admission to classes at the University of Maryland Medical School, where he studied, 1822-1824.

Frank Fitzhugh, Orange County private in Carrington's Charlottesville Artillery and Barger's Staunton Artillery.
