Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war and time period: Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection. General description of the collection: The John M. Heller photograph collection is an oversized album of photos and photogravure prints from the Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection. There are just a few photos from Cuba, while the vast majority are from the Philippine Islands between 1898 and 1902. Very few photos show Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont in 1900-1901. The subjects of the photos are many including one or two photos each of the following United States (U.S.) Infantry Regiments: 1, 3, 4, 9, 12, 18, and 19 along with the 26th and 43rd U.S. Volunteer Infantries. There are also photos of the 1st California Volunteers, the Macabebe Scouts, Spanish soldiers, hangings of Filipino criminals, Spanish priests, natives, and city and country scenes.
