Letterpress, 1893-1913.

Letterpress book contains copies of letters relating to city improvements and problems. Letters about town antipathy towards hospitals for "dypsomaniacs", including the Keeley Institute. Copies of city bills and payments. Personal letters to his children about their problems including his son in Puerto Rico, financial problems, and his daughter attending the Chicago Art Institute. After his death his wife and son, Daniel, wrote letters regarding business matters.

Mayor of Dwight, Illinois for several terms and also served as village trustee and president of the city council and was active in the Masons and a Commander of Dwight Post No. 626 of the G.A.R., having served as a Captain in the Civil War.
