[Letter] 1876 Dec. 11, Philadelphia to J.A. Broadus, Greenville, S.C. / Harriett N.K. Goff. 1876.

Mrs. Goff replies to a letter from Broadus, in which he wrote, "No respectable person would go to hear a woman lecture in this region," by claiming that she has "addressed audiences in some very conservative towns, and at the close of my address, ministers and laity have congratulated me that the ice was pretty fairly broken for other women to follow, because the people perceved that 'of a truth God is no respector of persons.'"
