Biographical Note: Frank N. Pilling was an alumnus, The Johns Hopkins University. He was born in Baltimore in 1908 and graduated from Hopkins in 1930. During the Depression years, Pilling worked as a high school English teacher and a social worker. He also began writing on subjects of interest to him: social issues, politics, and history.
