Fontane/Pietsch collection, 1845-1977.

Collection (1845-1977) consists of correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, and photographs. There are 39 letters (1872-1898) in German from Fontane to Pietsch concerning personal and literary affairs along with photocopies, English translations by Lieselotte Kurth-Voigt, and Kurth-Voigt's article (1977) on the correspondence. Included also are 42 letters (1904) sent to Pietsch on his 80th birthday by other literary figures including Karl Frenzel, Paul Heyse, Oscar Blumenthal, and Clara Viebig. There is one letter (1845) written by Jacob Grimm, and photographs of Fontane, Pietsch, and Adolph Menzel.
