Painter (Sidney) papers, 1940-1950.

The collection consists of three series+ research material, writings and course lecture notes. The information Painter abstracted from the sources is primarily in list form. It would be difficult to use the material as a starting point for original research, but it might be used in conjunction with an already well-developed project. The writings series contains only four items, two of which may be chapters from his works: typescripts on Richard III and the Crusades. There is also a typescript of an unpublished short story, set during the reign of King John, which skillfully combines fact and fiction.
