[Letter] 1857 Dec. 9, University of Va. to [John Albert Broadus], Richmond, Va. / Margaret S. Swann. 1857.

Broadus daughter Annie "has been quite sick today, and she has felt very uneasy about her." The doctor "examined her lungs and said she had pneumonia. Tonight he called, applied a blister, and pronounced her much better. Lida [daughter Eliza Somerville] is very well and sends her love and says she wants to see you mighty bad and you must come home real soon. Aunt Somer [Broadus's stepmother Somerville Broadus?] sends also much love. Broadus's wife, Maria Carter died Oct. 21, 1857, and he was away from home, preaching a revival in Richmond at Grace Street Baptist Church, pastored by J.B. Jeter from Nov. 30-Dec. 10.
