Letters written by sculptor Thomas Ball to Otis Norcross regarding statues of John A. Andrew and Charles Sumner at the State House and in the Boston Public Garden, 1869-82. Letters discuss statue proportions and placements, and include a few sketches. Collection also includes letters from members of the Sumner Statue Committee including Hon. Alexander H. Rice; and Ball's contract for the Sumner statue.
