World Council of Churches 1979-1987.

The records were collected by William G. Rusch, director for ecumenical relations of the Division for World Mission and Ecumenism (DWME) of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) from 1979-1987. Part of the LCA ecumenical role was membership in the World Council of Churches (WCC), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. These records include correspondence, project reports (such as projects with migrant workers, and migration in the Pacific), committee and commission reports (Central Committee, Commission on Churches' Participation in Development, Commission on Inter-Church Aid, Refugee and World Service), and directories of resources. There are several files related to the Lutheran response to a WCC paper titled "Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry." This was a project for which written, formally adopted responses were required from each member communion of the WCC. The arrangement of the files is alphabetical.
