Evangelical Lutheran Augustana Synod in North America. : Board of Foreign Missions. Patron and Protégé Department 1922-1947.

This series consists of correspondence between the Secretary of Patron and Protégé in the office of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church with patrons (donors) and missionaries who provided lists of eligible protégés. In the first part of folder one are the rules for the department as established in 1922, with additional instructions in 1926. Correspondence with each patron is sometimes filed together but there does not seem to be any order alphabetically or chronologically for the succession of patron files. Nor is there an order for lists which are intermingled with patron correspondence. Correspondence and lists related to the program also involve the Woman's Missionary Society of the Augustana Synod and include specific dollar grants. Some correspondence is to and from the treasurer of the Mission Board. There is also biographical information about many of the protégés.
