Arthur L. Ruths served as secretary for personnel of the Board of World Missions (BWM) from 1962-1967. Norman H. Nuding served from 1967-1987. The position was retitled director for personnel of the Division for World Mission and Ecumenism (DWME) in 1972 and director for personnel for personnel and Europe in 1973. Box 1 contains records of the Personnel Selection Committee and the Kenosha missionary conferences. The Personnel Selection Committee was a committee of the BWM and DWME that reviewed missionary candidate applications. The files contain correspondence between director and committee, personal information on the candidates, written votes on applicants, and the formal recommendations of the committee. The missionary conference files contain correspondence, lists of participants, programs, texts of presentations, and evaluations. The remaining three boxes contain files on both personnel and Europe interfiled alphabetically. Two large files on the School of Missions (see LCA 16/12) were collected by Ruths. The remainder of the files are primarily the work of Nuding. They include individual projects and seminars in various European countries, committee work, and policy files on such subjects as planning, retirement, and compensation.
