This is a love letter there is no signature and no dear. It discusses a woman not able to go on with out her loved one, thinking about wanting to go east, how much she wants him, and of her pain and suffering. I can only assume that this letter is directed to Markham because he does move east by 1900, with his wife Anna and the baby. There is another page included, it is a copy of an article from the Pasadena Daily Star Discussing Ina as CaIifornia's Sweetest Poet. It also contains references to other important poets and writers.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). Coolbrith, Ina D. (Ina Donna), 1842?-1928

Kenney is a Mormon author and historian. From the guide to the Scott G. Kenney research materials, 1820-1984, (L. Tom Perry Special Collections) Ina Coolbrith was born as Josephine Donna Smith (niece of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith) in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1841or 1842 (accounts differ). Following her father's death, which roughly coincided with the Mormons' expulsion from Illinois, Josephine's mother took her to St. Louis and married William Pickett. In 1850 the family ...
