This version of the sermons of Doctor Thaulerus was probably translated from a 16th or 17th century publication in Latin or German; according to a 1948 letter from the British Museum to British book dealer George Sexton, included with the text, there were no English editions until the 19th century. The work consists of Tauler's sermons; the introduction says that Tauler was asked for a sermon by some women "desiring a true and perfect inclusory life." There are seven sermons, of varying length (with glosses, often "note this") and some passages from other writers, notably St. Bernard.
