The bulk of the records are from the time period of the BWM of the LCA, with a set of minutes and a few subject files from its predecessors and a small amount of material from its successor, the Division for World Mission and Ecumenism of the LCA. David L. Vikner, Secretary for East Asia, is a main contributor to this set of files. The records are divided into four sub-series: minutes, consultations, correspondence, and subject files. The minutes include both Annual Conferences and Church Council minutes. Most of the consultation files relate to the China Advisory Committee (later called the China Area Coordinating Committee). Minutes and consultation files are arranged chronologically. There are also minutes for joint meetings of the Church Council and the Board of Directors filed with correspondence. Correspondence files are titled with the names of chief correspondent or administrative body but are not limited to those names. Subject files contain special projects, and several are related to educational institutions. Both correspondence and subject files are arranged alphabetically. Other LCA files may contain ELCHK information (See any sub-grouping under LCA 16/3/1). This record series, however, was labeled by its creators as specifically ELCHK.
