Contains information pertaining to the following military units: 66th United States (U.S.) Armored Regiment; 66th Medium Tank Battalion; 1st Battalion, 66th Armor; 2nd Armored Division; 4th Armored Division. General description of the collection: Armor-US-66th Regiment papers include copies of official papers reflecting the service of the 66th U.S. Armored Regiment and its successors, the 66th Medium Tank Battalion (1946-1959) and the 1st Battalion/66th Armor (1959-1967). Papers relating to WWII include official after-action reports, headquarters diaries, orders sent out and received, daily correspondence, combat maps, and tables reflecting strength, equipment, and casualties. Post-war material contains material on training maneuvers. Most postwar items fall into the period 1948-1953, particularly the latter year while the unit was in Germany. Papers emanate from the headquarters of the 66th and many items come from its subordinate battalions and companies or from its parent organizations, the 2nd and 4th Armored Divisions and the 2nd's three combat commands.
