Records of general store under various owners, documenting sales of cloth, coffee, bacon, sugar, "mule shoes," a buggy, etc.; some volumes list prices for cotton bales received; consisting of cash book and stock list, 1835-1848 and 1847-1848; day books, 1860-1867, 1875-1877, 1880-1881, and 1885-1886; and cash books, 1849-1877, 1885-1886, 1886-1887. Business records include volume labeled "Cash Book & Stock List, Arnette & Hedgepath, 1835-1847 and Arnette & Colvin, 1847-1848," which begins with sworn statement, 28 Jan. 1836, Chester District, S.C., in which William Petrie asserts the accounts are "just and true," signed by William Thomas, Justice of the Peace; and 10 Sept. 1838, "commenced picking" listing cotton harvested for J[ohn] Q. A[rnette] by eight men and women identified by name. Volume, cash book, 1849-1877, lists transactions of John Q. Arnette, ca. 1849-1856; later entries [ca. Sept.?] 1856, list expenditures by "Wesley Mayfield, admin. for estate of J.Q. Arnett." Volume, 1860-1867, "Wesley Mayfield day book & estate accounts, Buckhead" on cover, "Abraham Mayfield [dec'd] and Sylvanus Carter, dec'd / account of all estates massed above 1863 [signed] Wesley Mayfield / administrator"; this volume includes 2 undated drafts of letters, one re thoughts of a soldier far from home. This 1860-1867 volume also includes 2 page draft of letter [ca. Nov. 1864] from Feaster to [Speaker of S.C House from Fairfield] R[obert] B[entham] Boyleston, Columbia, S.C., congratulating him on his success, and requesting admission into Arsenal Academy in Columbia, for his 19-year-old step-son, Robert C. Arnette, who was home on furlough after seeing combat at Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Va., and elsewhere. "Day book, Fairfield Dist. 1875-1877," includes various sized papers bound together, although bound in original marblized paper; "Day Book, 1880-1881, Buckhead, S.C.; and Day Book, 1885-1886, Buckhead, S.C. Cash book, 1885-1886, Buckhead, S.C., includes printed postcard, 22 Nov. 1887, to T.D. Feaster from Louis Stern, "Commission Merchant in Southern products," New York City, with offices in Boston and New Orleans, offering consignments on "fur, deer, alligator skins ... and the following round bird skins: sea birds of all species, owls, high-holders or slickers, blue jays, hawks, meadow larks, Jackdaws ... and in flat skins white egret, heron, also silver heron; and cash book, 1886-1887, Buckhead, S.C.
