Maxwell R. Thurman was a United States (U.S.) Army general. He was commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command from August 1979-December 1981. He was Army Vice Chief of Staff, March 22, 1982-June 19, 1987 and commanding general of the U.S. Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) from June 26, 1987-August 2, 1989.
