Bailey family letters [transcripts], 1842-1866.

Typed transcripts of letters sent by brothers Alfred, Isaiah, Jr., and Oscar Bailey of Boston and Cambridge, Mass., 1842-66. Includes letters sent by Alfred to his father Isaiah, Sr. while traveling in the ship Columbia to San Francisco, and subsequent life as a gold prospector, 1842-53; letters sent by Isaiah, Jr. to Alfred describing life and work in Cambridge, 1856; and letters written by Oscar while serving with the 1st Regiment, Mass. Infantry in Virginia and on the U.S.S Cumberland during the Civil War, 1861-63. Also includes a letter written by Isaiah, Sr. requesting information from the Navy regarding Oscar's death, 1866.
