Louise is writing to the Markham's thanking for spending time with her. She his writing several of her friends, Emily Crane Chadbourne, and Ellen LaMott, and her niece about the Markham's. She enclosed a cheque, it seems she is returning some of the money Markham gave her. She has set aside money for her trip to England.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland.
