Bird's-eye view of tents and trees at Camp Shaver in City Park (now MacArthur Park) during the United Confederate Veterans Reunion, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, May 15-18, 1911. Consisting of 1,100 tents, the camp provided free temporary housing for veterans during the United Confederate Veterans Reunion in Little Rock in May 1911. Veterans in the encampment christened the camp "Camp Shaver" for Colonel Robert G. Shaver of Mena, Polk County Arkansas who recruited, organized and commanded the 7th Arkansas Regiment for the Confederate Army.
