Contains prints from the Army Signal Corps and the Army Pictoral Service, as well as photographic prints of some Olin Dows sketches that were used in the S.L.A. Marshall book titled Bastogne: the story of the first eight days in which the 101st Airborne Division was closed within the ring of German forces.

Historical note: The First Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division was sent to Vietnam in 1965. It was the third United States Army unit to arrive. In December of 1967, the remainder of the division was deployed to Bien Hoa, South Vietnam in Operation Eagle Thrust. The 101st was the only army division ever airlifted directly into combat.
