Fuller family collection, 1838-1915.

Consisting of published books, ca. 1818-1923; chiefly textbooks used by members of the Fuller and Watson families at South Carolina College, Laurensville Female College, Wofford College, Spring Grove Academy, and elsewhere; as well as medical and miscellaneous books from the library of Dr. A.C. Fuller and J.C. Fuller. Topics represented include Greek, Latin, and French grammar; classical texts; history; biography; a cookbook; chemistry; medicine; fabric dying; etc.; also includes miscellaneous issues of University of South Carolina student publications, The Gamecock and The Carolinian, 1911-1915, and serveral issues of Southern Quarterly Review dating to 1840s. Individuals represented include at least two generations of students named Anthony C. Fuller of Laurens, S.C., who attended school ca. 1840s and ca. 1870s; others identified include Edward P. Fuller of Wofford College; Biphema Watson; and Amelia C. Watson of Greenwood, S.C., whose signature and/or stamp appears in several books including an 1838 chemistry book. For list of titles, search catalog using AUTHOR search for FULLER FAMILY COLLECTION; several volumes missing title pages could not be identified: mid-19th century Greek and Latin grammar texts [one book each]; a Roman history text, probably another copy of Sallust's History of the war against Jugurtha [all Box 1]; and incomplete, undated volume with spine title, Complete Works of Byron [Box 2].
