Primarily letters (1895-98) written by this Mecklenburg County native and Associate Reformed Presbyterian minister during his long-distance courtship of his future wife, Eva Lee Hickman. He describes his studies at Erskine Theological Seminary (S.C.), her attendance at State College for Women (Va.), their growing affection for each other, his early days as a minister in Florida and South Carolina, and his expectations as to the proper role of a minister's wife. Also includes his account book (1929-31), postcards of Matthews, N.C. (ca. 1920s), and material (1990) relating to My Dear Miss Eva, Mary Norton Kratt's book based on Hood's letters.
