William Carey Brown (1854-1939) was a distinguished military officer, inventor, and historical researcher. His lifelong service in the U.S. Army took him to the American West and many countries around the world. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy in 1877, he returned to West Point in 1885-90 as Adjutant.
