The John G. Mason Papers chronicle student activity at New York University (NYU) from 1962-1978, focusing primarily on the period 1965-1971 and upon the students and faculty who opposed the Vietnam War. The Papers document student and student-faculty organizations on the NYU campus and within the national student movement, and represent the personal collection of a student who was either active in or sympathetic to the work and goals these groups pursued. The Papers contain a rich assortment of public and private documents, including leaflets, fliers, and posters; University and student publications; analytical, financial and strategic documents regarding NYU's organizational structure, officers, trustees, professoriate and curricula; public relations pamphlets and newspaper clippings; and correspondence, diaries, and other personal materials. The Papers also include ephemera, like buttons and membership cards, and 16 mm film footage of a demonstration taken by NYU Campus Security.
