Diary, 1918-1919.

Diary documenting his experiences from the time he learned of his appointment until he returned to Illinois. Clearly and concisely describes his experiences, the sites that he visits in Italy, before going to Greece, and in Greece, the landscape of the countries, his social activities, the hospitals he visits and the specific staffing, patients and problems of each, the soldiers, the refugees coming into Greece, the various people he works with and the effects of the war on the land and the people. He discusses certain medical problems such as typhus and influenza. He is very candid in his comments about the people with whom he works. There is an itinerary of staff, rules and regulations for nurses, lists of descriptive comments on his hospital visits and a copy of the address he gave at the funeral of Major Cyril G. Hopkins in Urbana, Ill. November 1919.
