Col Bond's regimental acc[oun]t book 25th regiment, 1775-1776.

Original account book of William Bond, a Colonel in "Gardner's Regiment" (25th Continental Regiment). Contains records concerning the companies of Capt Harris, Capt Child, Capt Cook, Capt Fuller, Capt Hatch, Capt Draper, Capt Egery, and Capt Mayhew. There are also sections for Colonel Bond, Doctor Pitcher, Lt. Col. Alden, Adjt Hunt, and Ensign Ward. Entries concern the receipt of supplies (blankets, firearms, ammunition, shoes, etc.) and their cost, lists of men who have arms in custody (including whether they have a bayonet, gun mark and their gun number), monthly abstracts of the number of men in each company (by rank), and some records concerning officer's pay. Locations include Prospect Hill, Albany, Crown Point and Ticonderoga.

In response to the expansion of the Continental Army the number of staff was increased and reorganized in 1776. Changes included the creation of a new unit to supplement George Washington's personal staff. This special unit, the Commander in Chief's Guard, was formed on March 12, 1776 with Captain Caleb Gibbs (formerly adjutant of the 14th Continental Regiment and appointed Aid to Major General Greene) as commander.
