Paul is discussing writting by Eckhart which is in German and he wants an english version. He refers to Erigena, Ueberweg, Erdmann, Baader and Eckhartshausen and there translations. He replys to his question about Vedas and Zoroastrianism and Brahmanism with references to Bhagavadgita. He would like to undertake the works of Chinese Taoism which is embodied in Laotsze's Tao-teh-king. He aslo tells Edwin that Jacob Bohme is of greater importance tha Baader.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901).
