Letter, June 19, 1939, from Harold Habein explaining Gehrig's illness, which was revealed to be Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Habein further explains that Gehrig can on longer play baseball, but may continue to serve in an executive position. The letter is written on Mayo Clinic letterhead.
