Record of the income and expenses of a woman living near Stockport, in the English county of Cheshire. From 1793 to 1799, the income is a quarterly allowance and the expenses are primarily personal, for travel, cloth and clothing, balls and assemblies, charitable donations, and many small purchases such as books, ribbons, and fans. The records for 1799 include her expenses for wedding clothes, paid for by a gift of £200 from a Mr. Daintry (who appears earlier as a source of smaller amounts of money in 1795) for that purpose. When the record resumes in 1805, the income and expenses are more complicated and include expenses for children and servants as well as for the writer. Winnings and losses from card games are recorded throughout. The book has a vellum wallet binding and part of a metal clasp remaining on the upper cover. On the lower cover Account 1799 is written in ink; the number 12 is in ink on the spine.
