Manuscript letter addressed to Mr. Hubert de Saint-Menien : Versailles, January 4, 1739.

This letter was written in reply to an apparent enquiry from Sieur Hubert Saint-Menien regarding his credentials as a successor to his brother, the earlier Sieur Hubert who had been a major opponent of Bienville. Maurepas writes that he will act on the recommendation of M. de la Porte, a Louisiana official.
