Sends Makham a copy of "The Nation's Review" in which she didn't get a good review; but she said that she struck back and hops that her letter will be published. Sends a second copy and asks to be forwarded to Mr. Zangwill.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899).
