Autograph letter signed from Fred. Feild Whitehurst, Brentford, to Charles John Kean [manuscript], 1857 May 14.

Whitehurst indicates that he was at the theatre the previous night when the fire broke out, and he informs Kean of the role of a police constable in allaying the fears of the audience. He also compliments Mrs. Kean's "calmness & courage...in appearing on the stage at such a moment." Letter addressed simply to "Sir."
