Charles M. Taintor account books, 1849-1873.

Account books kept by Charles M. Taintor. Entries in the first volume were recorded when the family was living in Shelburne, Massachusetts. In 1865 the family moved to Colchester, Connecticut; by 1870 they were in Wethersfield, Connecticut. . There are also a few entries recorded in the Pyquag section of Newington, Connecticut. Occasionally, Taintor experimented with different spellings of his last name, including Tayintor and Tayghntor. Taintor recorded the amount of money he, his father, and others (first names only) paid for items such as food and travel. These items range from sugar to fishing tackle, dress patterns to railroad fare.
