Randorf discusses his family background and life growing up in Wisconsin. He details his enlistment in the United States Army in 1966, describing basic training in Missouri and Fort Benning, Georgia. He discusses going AWOL from Fort Benning twice and being sent to prison in Wisconsin and Kentucky. He also focuses on his service in the Vietnam War and his perceptions of life in Vietnam, including the presence of prostitution.
