Walsh, Jr., collection includes papers from his entire career, from his West Point days (1930-1934) to his retirement. There are papers from his WWII assignments, including his service with the 517th Parachute Infantry. There are numerous academic papers from the Armed Forces Staff College (1951); the National War College (1954-1955); and as Commanding Officer of the 503rd Airborne Infantry, 11th Airborne Division (1953).

Louis Alfred Walsh, Jr., was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He graduated from the United States Army Military Academy (USMA) in 1934; attended parachute school in 1941; and held a number of parachute command and staff assignments during World War II including participation in the battle of Guadalcanal. He activated and commanded the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 17th Airborne Division including jumping into the Tagaytay Ridge operation in the Philippines and particpated in the l...
