The Joseph Marmon papers, 1902-1932.

Contains information pertaining to the following wars and time periods: French War, Indian War, 1865-1897, Spanish-American War -- Caribbean, Philippine Insurrection, 1899-1917, 1930s. General description of the collection: The Joseph Marmon papers include a personal letter sent to him by John J. Leary dated February 16, 1932, describing the economic, political and military conditions in Europe (especially Germany) during the Great Depression with comments on Captain Walter H. Wells and the United States Military Academy (USMA). Also included are reports by Stephen O. Fuqua, 23rd United States (U.S.) Infantry Regiment and officer in charge of Moro affairs on his activities with the Moros around Malabang, Mindanao (July 1-Sept. 30, 1903); report by Ingram Cary entitled, JUNGLE WARFARE, (1934) which is an account of an actual incident involving operations of Captain Cary I Crockett's Company of Macabebe Scouts of the Philippine Constabulary against the Pulajans on Samar in 1904; and Dana T. Merrill's study entitled, NOTES ON JUNGLE WARFARE, with an outline of some principles of brush warfare, jungle tactics, mountain warfare, and small wars derived by Merrill from a study of the French and Indian War, Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection, and various military operations of British, French, and German forces in Africa and Indochina from ca. 1840-1902.
