Negative taken of the proclamation by Don Venhaus, Pulaski County Judge officially designating "Cunningham Bridge" in honor of the Cunningham family, November 15, 1984. The Cunningham family owned a large farm/plantation near the Cunningham Bridge in Wrightsville, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Corine Waters Cunningham, born in 1878, died Saturday, November 2, 1940 at 3:30 a.m. in a Little Rock hospital. Corine Waters married Rufus H. Cunningham in Pulaski County, Arkansas on June 12, 1900. Rufus Cunningham (27 Aug 1861-27 Sept 1917) left to Corine Cunningham a 509 acre farm at his death. He had been a farmer and a school teacher at Wrightsville, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Her four sons, Rufus Cunningham, Carl Cunningham, William Cunningham, and Andrew Cunningham assisted her with the farm but she was the manager and a respected person in the Little Rock plantation operators and business community. In addition to her sons, she was survived by three daughters, Bernice Cunningham, Ruby McMillen and Pearl Sampson of Chicago, Illinois. Both Corine and Rufus Cummingham are buried at the Virginia/Wrightsville Community Cemetery. William Claiborne Cunninham took over managing the farm after his mother's death.
