The narrator of this interview, Mrs. Hilda Mather Garrenton, is the widow of Dr. Connell Garrenton, physician at the Bethel Clinic in Bethel, North Carolina between 1936 and 1975. The interview gives insight into Mrs. Garrenton's childhood in Philadelphia and polio treatment in 1918. She tells about the three generations of Garrenton physicians and about the Bethel Clinic. Information relevant to the years 1915-1985 is contained in this interview.
