Carte de visite of George W. Barnes, Third Michigan Cavalry, Company I. Barnes, a resident of Livingston County, Michigan, was 21 years of age when he enlisted as a Private on September 21, 1861, at Tyrone, Michigan. Company I of the Third Michigan Cavalry was stationed at De Valls Bluff, Prairie County, Arkansas, the winter of 1864-1865. Barnes survived the Civil War.
