The scrapbook contains clippings of Edmond S. Meany's "Living pioneers of Washington" column, which ran in the Seattle Post-intelligencer newspaper, from Oct. 27, 1915 to May 29, 1920. Each column was a brief biographical sketch, with one or more portraits as available, of an early Washington settler or family. The scrapbook includes a typescript index compiled by Martha Shellabarger in 1956. It is not clear that Meany was the actual compiler of this scrapbook.
