A journal kept during the time Boston was shut up in 1775 [manuscript transcription], 1775-1776.

Handwritten copy of a journal kept by Boston selectman Timothy Newell, 19 April 1775-17 March 1776, describing events during the Siege of Boston. Newell details the number of men wounded and killed, size of British and Continental troops, and confiscated livestock. Also includes copies of letters sent and received by Newell addressed to Gen. Howe, 8-9 March 1776. The journal was copied most likely by Thomas Wallcut from papers held by Jeremy Belknap. Pages 13-16 are missing from transcription.
