The William Ludwig Baumgarten Papers consist of photographs and student works. Student works include illustrated student papers, as well as a blank exam, from classes in the history of architecture Baumgarten taught at the at the North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University) School of Design (later College of Design) in the 1950s. The photographs consist of black-and-white prints dating from the 1930s and showing residences, stores, schools, and restaurants in Vienna and perhaps elsewhere in Europe.

William Ludwig Baumgarten, a native of Austria and graduate of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, was a renowned architect in Europe before he emigrated to the United States.
