Alma is still dicussing the matter of checks being issued to Edwin for her. She is involved in a case also. She refers to a Mr Smith and Clarence (Darrow??) and an investment that is worth nothing. She contiunes about thee Canada life and power of attorney to Edwin.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
