[Letter] 1940 Feb. 28, The Blackstone, Chicago [to] Miss Bragdon / S. W.

This letter, signed S. W., is most likely written by Clifton Webb, who in early 1940 was playing Sheridan Whiteside in the Chicago production of: The man who came to dinner, a play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The play was based on the life of Alexander Woollcott, who was playing the part in West Coast productions of the play; in the New York City production, the part was played by Monty Woolley. The letter is to Nancy Bragdon, Larchmont, N.Y. reporting: "The safari is almost over!" (apparently a reference to a theater tour.)
