Hugh Williams Primrose was one of six sons born to William Stuart Primrose and Ella Williams Primrose. He was born January 21, 1878 and died January 27, 1904. He was a member of the graduating class of 1897. His father, William Stuart Primrose, was a member of the original Watauga Club which helped found the college. Leslie Graham Berry graduated from the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (later North Carolina State University) with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1900.
