The Humphrey family papers, 1906-1968.

Contains information pertaining to the following wars: Spanish American War, World War I. General description of the collection: Papers of Chales F. Humphrey covers mainly a large scrapbook with photos, detailing the construction of Fort Shafter, Hawaii in 1909 and congratulatory letters from the greater Army community upon his promotion to Brigadier General. There are numerous documents pertaining to his funeral and burial as well as his wife's and some miscellaneous though not substantive, correspondence over his years an an army officer - mostly of a personal nature.

Charles F. Humphrey, Jr., was a United States (U.S.) Army officer who was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant of infantry in 1898. His first taste of action was with the 17th Infantry in the Philippines in 1899-1901. He served with the units of the 2nd Infantry Division. He retired as a brigadier general in 1940.
